About Me

Hey there! My name is Amy and I write short stories, essays, and most recently, a novel - a thriller set in New York and a fictional country in South America. I was born in a small town in Georgia to a doctor dad and a social worker-turned-teacher mom. I grew up playing librarian and making my own magazines featuring stories about aliens and hitchhiking.

I moved to New York City at seventeen for college at Columbia. While there, I started a women’s literary magazine and earned a BA in English. I also interned at the New York Press, where a highlight of my experience was attending the wedding of the Sword Swallower and the Fire Eater on Coney Island.

After college, I moved to Washington state. I worked in the newsroom of the Seattle Times and as a staff writer for a music weekly called The Rocket. While I was in Seattle, the cloudy skies began calling me, so I took a left turn and enrolled in flight school. Since then, I’ve worked as a flight instructor, flown skydiving jump planes, and now work as a pilot for a major airline. Along the way I’ve contributed articles to Flying and Pilot Getaways magazines and published short stories in Sixfold and Gargoyle

I currently live in Georgia with my family, a very loud dog, and a tiny grey cat.
